Chris Wadsworth is a contemporary artist based in Auckland, New Zealand, working primarily in sculpture.

Drawing on three decades of creative practice, he brings a confident visual approach to his work, favouring bold, reductive forms and experimenting with contemporary materials to explore ideas through colour, structure and form.

Each piece begins with a defined concept or observation, often rooted in lived experience, which provides a structural starting point for form. Through experimentation, material behaviour shapes what emerges during making.

His work has gained recognition across New Zealand, including consecutive finalist selections in the National Small Sculpture Prize in 2025 and 2026, a finalist selection in the 2025 Cleveland National Art Awards, and receiving the Outstanding Artist Award at the 2025 Hibiscus & Bays Art Awards.

Before settling in New Zealand, Chris lived in Amsterdam, London, Singapore and Sydney, developing a sustained creative career. He holds a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from the University of Central Lancashire, UK, and is co-founder and creative director of a design agency, alongside his work as an artist.
